I mean, really!

I signed Alexis up for soccer for the fall and just got an email with the names of the other kids on her team.

What is with parents these days?

Is it so hard to name your child something normal? And to spell it in a way that doesn't require me to repeat it to myself 100 times before I have it memorized? And can you name them something that will give us a clear idea of whether they are a boy or a girl?

I'm about ready to go back to the days where everyone is named either John, Thomas, Laura or Ashley.

Hey, where did you sign her up? Call me! And I totally get it with the name thing. It's kind of funny sometimes..

Just as long as we never go back to the days when everyone was named Jennifer!

I'm all about unusual names (I love my name...), but I don't get when people take a normal name and spell it all crazy as if they're being so original. Like Brytnee...Ashlee, etc.

Speaking of names, I was looking on the social security website and it lists the most common names for twins in 2008. One of them was Heaven and Nevaeh (heaven spelled backward). SERIOUSLY????

OOoooo, that bugs the heck out of me. And I hate to say it, but there seems to be a lot of that in Utah. A creative spirit perhaps?? When I taught school in Utah I had a McKenna, McKensie, and a MaKaylah all in the same class. Tongue tied, a lot.

um, ashley is orginally a boy's name.

Sorry, I'll try to tone it down. My kids have those original names but hey, with a mom named Jeneece I had to inflict that pain as a tradition...

Love the post, so true! :) plus I never got a chance to wish you a Happy Birthday officially. I know it's really Belated but hope you had a great one! You're amazing.

I'm with you on the spelling. But I don't want every boy named Thomas or John- if only for my boys sake.
